There is no doubt that the Costa del Sol is a paradise for all motorcyclists who like to spend their weekends on long motorbike tours, resorts or one-day motorbike tours.
From the beginning of May, the province of Malaga begins to present the best summer postcards, and the heat is accentuated: the perfect combination of motorbike routes.
Costa del Sol by motorbike
There is a very well known route that we can enjoy from Torrox Costa, passing through Nerja, arriving at Rincón de la Victoria, an easy and not very extensive route to enjoy in a couple of days.
We will start touring Malaga by motorbike along the motorway from Ciudad Jardin, in order to go straight to Nerja, leaving aside Velez Malaga and La Maroma. When we get to Torrox, we will have to take the exit of the motorway to see the Torrox Lighthouse, where we will be able to enjoy some wonderful views of the Costa del Sol. We suggest doing this route on Saturday, as the lighthouse is closed on Sunday.
We can follow the road to Nerja and stop to see the Roca de la Virgen y Cristo del Mar, a small sanctuary on the shores of the Mediterranean. If we continue along the road that borders the beach, we will come to the ruins of the Torrecilla, a watchtower built by the Nasrids in the 13th century.
We should then head towards Nerja to visit the famous Chanquete Boat, the old town and the famous Nerja Caves. We will continue our visit to the Aqueduct of the Eagle, the Rapture of Europa and the Factory of San Joaquin.
The next obligatory stop is at Rincón de la Victoria, where we can take a break for lunch at one of its famous beach bars on the seafront promenade. Finally, we will head back to the capital and finish the route of Malaga by motorbike.
Sierra de las Nieves en Málaga en moto
Una de las rutas más conocidas en Málaga es la ruta por la Sierra de las Nieves, siendo este uno de los espacios naturales más bonitos de la provincia. Está situado entre Marbella y Ronda, albergando más de la mitad de los últimos bosques de pinsapo del continente europeo.
No hay carreteras que permitan circular por dentro de la Sierra de las Nieves, pero sí que podemos rodearlo desde Marbella en una ruta bastante especial. Por ello, empezaremos dicha ruta desde Marbella, en dirección a Ojén. Nada más empezar la ruta, nos encontraremos una subida con diversas curvas, tratándose de una carretera ancha, con puntos donde podremos parar a disfrutar las bonitas vistas del pueblo de Ojén.
La parte más espectacular de la ruta comienza aquí. Desde Ojén llegamos a Monda y tomamos el desvío hacia el Burgo, pasando por Yunquera. Este tramo es el qué recomiendan los motoristas que pasan por aquí, ya que cuenta con numerosos desniveles, curvas y lo que es lo mejor de todo… ¡POCO TRÁFICO! Desde Marbesol Bike, recomendamos extremar las precauciones en el camino por la ausencia de guardarrailes y presencia de diversos barrancos.
Seguidamente, llegaremos a Ronda, donde podremos hacer una pequeña parada para disfrutar de un riquísimo tapeo. Tras el descanso, empezamos la bajada que nos llevará hasta la playa. Antes de llegar a El Madroñal, podemos seguir disfrutando de numerosa cantidad de curvas bastante cerradas y unos paisajes preciosos.
Al llegar a la playa, no hay mejor propuesta que descansar en un chiringuito comiendo pescaíto frito y disfrutando de unas estupendas vistas al Mediterráneo.
Route through the mountains of Malaga by motorbike
The touristy mountains of Malaga are a mountain range located just 5 kilometres north of the capital. It is a chain of high and low hills, parallel to the Costa del Sol.
We will start the route in Antequera, thus enjoying the incomparable “Peña de los Enamorados”, also called “la Cabeza del Indio”, a mountain located at the foot of Antequera. We must take the exit towards the Torcal de Antequera, to make a stop at the Torcal Alto restaurant and visit the viewpoint to enjoy the wonderful views of this unique natural landscape in the country.
At the beginning of the descent from El Torcal, we will drive in the direction of Villanueva de la Concepción, also known as the Village of Love, you can find more information here. Continuing on our route, we take the Casabermeja-Malaga crossing, this road is surrounded by an agricultural landscape, this being the main economy of the surrounding villages, surrounded by mountains and streams that cross under the road. We continue to Casabermeja to visit the unknown Cemetery of San Sebastián, declared a historic-artistic monument.
The next location is Colmenar, where, thanks to the A-7000 road, we will enter the Natural Park of the Montes de Málaga, which will take us to the heart of the capital of Málaga, while we enjoy this road and the steep slopes and pine-covered forests that surround the road. We will then arrive at the mountain post of Puerto de León, where we can enjoy the Mediterranean Sea that bathes the coast of the province. Near the viewpoint is the monumental Fuente de la Reina, where we can make a stop along the way to take a break.
We continue our descent through an area with many steep bends, arriving at the historic centre of Malaga. Along the way we will come across the Gibralfaro Castle, where we can enjoy the best views of the city. We finish the route going down to the city centre, to stroll through its streets and ending this well-known and peculiar route of Malaga by motorbike.
